I do my best to have a smoothie every day, and I do my best to keep it simple; like I did with this Minty Strawberry Broccoli Smoothie.
I know the thought of putting broccoli into a smoothie doesn’t seem the most appetizing, but with so many nutritional benefits, I can’t resist using it. Check out Organic Facts and learn about “11 Incredible Benefits of Broccoli”.
Getting a NutriBullet saved me from my unhealthiest college days, and good habits have only grown since I got one. In the beginning, I was so clueless of flavor combinations, but you get a free recipe book with your NutriBullet, and it’s a great guide.
I like to try and get a balance of all the different categories of taste; sweet, sour, salty, bitter, fatty. The strawberries didn’t give as much sweetness to help out with the bitterness of the broccoli, so adding something like maple syrup or honey or agave might be a good idea. I love the umami the avocado brings to this smoothie, though; can’t skip an opportunity to get some good fats in. Last but not least, the MINT. I love mint so much, and knowing it goes well with strawberry, I thought it would be a nice compliment; I’ve been trying to sneak herbs into my eats whenever I can.
Minty Strawberry Broccoli Smoothie
So many nutrients, so much minty flavor.
- 1/2 cup broccoli
- 4 strawberries
- 3 mint leaves
- 1/4 avocado
- 1/2 cup milk
Blend all ingredients together, and enjoy:)
